What is a tax credit?
A tax credit is part of a state law that, among other benefits, allows individuals to donate up to $200 or for married couples filing jointly to donate up to $400 per tax year. If married taxpayers file separately; each spouse may claim ½ of the credit that would have been allowed on a joint return.
